(I) *Brutiful Quality Quotation:
âWhen everything is moving & shifting, the only way to counteract chaos is stillness. When the surface is wavy, dive deeper for quieter watersâ
~Kristin Armstrong
*This season has provided an opportunity to sift through the consistent waves of noise that are so common in our lives.
This last week especially provided opportunities to dive deep & release a lot of subconscious responsibilities I had inadvertently taken on.
(II) Music to Immerse in Listening:
Windowpane | by (Opeth) | & for a visual listening experience | Opeth ~ Windowpane (Live at Shepherdâs Bush Empire, London)
A subtle & soulful seasonal listening experience, this song creates an atmosphere of tones through a gentle tsunami of sound.
I invite you to take some time for stillness, make yourself comfortable & (Immerse) đđź

(III) Modern Renaissance Yearly Reflection:
Rather than New Yearâs resolutions, I have taken a tool from Tim Ferris & carved out a âYearly Canvas Reflectionâ. This is where I review, reflect & curate all my daly schedules for the last four seasons.
I have found it to be a deeply rewarding discipline as a framework for refinement, transformation & casting vision for the seasons that lay before.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the process;
1.Procure a journal, notebook, napkin, or stack of paper & create two columns: Sublime | Sub-par
2. Go through your calendar from the last four seasons looking at each week
3. For each week, ink down on paper any people, places, events & experiences that evoked a âSublimeâ or
âSub-parâ experience
4. Once you have gone through the past year, look at your list & ask ~ âWhat 20% of each column produced the most reliable or powerful peaks?â
5. Based on the answers, scribe your top âSublimeâ experience & schedule more of them in 2021. Cement them in the calendar now! Be proactive, look ahead & take charge of your schedule. Thatâs step one.
Step two is to take your âSub-parâ experiences, write them down & put âNOT-TO-DO LISTâ at the top. Then put them somewhere you can see them each morning for the first few weeks of 2021. These are the people & things you know make you miserable ~ so donât put them on your calendar out of obligation, guilt, shame, or other nonsense
Thatâs it! Let me know how it goes if you implement it. & just remember, itâs not enough to remove the negative which simply creates a void. Rather, refine & instill the Sublime on your (canvas/calendar)! It will set a solid foundation for fulfillment moving into the seasons that lay ahead.
*As a taste, here are my top 3 for each;
Sublime:
- Listening to more Metal from my teenage years
- Creating & progressing my film making & artistic craft
- Being more present & grateful in the small moments
Sub-par:
- Anxiety on overthinking the future
- Taking on too much responsibility
- Seeking consistent stimulation
